A driver was headbutted and stabbed in the neck after asking a man if he could move his car to make room for another vehicle. park. Jameel Ali, 24, lost his steering wheel when the driver asked if he could move forward on Windmill Street in Peterborough around 4pm on New Year’s Eve 2023.

Detectives located Ali’s car and arrested him two days after his brutal attack.

Detective Constable Lloyd Davis said: “This incident could have been much worse. It is just pure luck that the victim was not more seriously injured.”

Ali, of St Pauls Road, Peterborough, denied assault causing GBH with intent but was found guilty at Cambridge Crown Court in January.

He was sentenced to 6 years in prison at the same court on Friday, May 15.

Det Cons Davis said: “I am pleased that Ali was identified, arrested and received a significant prison sentence for his actions.

“I also hope that the conclusion of the court proceedings will allow the victim to put this experience behind him.”
