Tensions continue to rise with US President Donald Trump’s pressure to purchase Denmark’s semi-autonomous region of Greenland. Meanwhile, he shared a photo of French President Emmanuel Macron’s special message.

This comes as the United States prepares to deploy a North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) aircraft to the Pituffik spaceport in Greenland.

French President Macron’s message to Trump

Trump shared the photo of the French President’s special message on Truth Social. Macron mentioned Syria, Iran and Greenland in his message.

The message said, “Dude, we’re totally on the same page on Syria. We can do great things on Iran. I don’t understand what you’re doing in Greenland.” it said.

Macron suggested a meeting in his message, saying, “Let’s try to build great things: 1) I can arrange a G7 meeting after Davos in Paris on Thursday afternoon. I can invite Ukrainians, Danes, Syrians and Russians on the sidelines. 2) Let’s have dinner together in Paris on Thursday before you return to the USA.”

Trump’s Meeting with NATO President

Trump also had a phone conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte about Greenland and said he would meet with many parties in Davos.

He reiterated his position on Greenland and said it was integral to American and world security.

The US President shared details of the meeting in a post on Truth Social on Tuesday.

He said: “I had a very good phone conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on Greenland. I agreed that the various parties will meet in Davos, Switzerland. As I have made very clear to everyone, Greenland is essential for National and World Security. There can be no going back – Everyone agrees on this!”

Trump repeated his statement that global peace would be achieved through force and claimed that the USA was the most powerful country thanks to the “restructuring” carried out during Trump’s first term as president.

“The United States of America is by far the most powerful Country anywhere in the world. This is largely due to the rebuilding of our Military during my First Term, and that rebuilding continues at an even faster pace. We are the only FORCE that can bring PEACE around the world – And this is done, quite simply, through FORCE!”

Trump’s Tariff Threat to Greenland

Previously, Trump had threatened to impose tariffs on other European countries, including Denmark and the UK, if they did not agree to sell Greenland.

In his post, Trump claimed that this move was necessary for national security, citing China and Russia’s interest in the region.

He offered to negotiate with European countries, but warned that if an agreement was not reached, tariffs would be increased by 10 percent from February 1, 2026, and 25 percent from June 1, 2026, and stated that after years of US support, “it is time for Denmark to give back.”
