‘Big Bang Theory’ actor Kunal Nayyar pays random families’ medical bills

Kunal Nayyar lives in constant gratitude.

The “Big Bang Theory” actor, who played Raj Koothrappali throughout the sitcom’s 12-season run, revealed his favorite pastime while reflecting on his own financial freedom.

“Money has given me more freedom, and the greatest gift is the ability to give back, to change people’s lives,” he said in a December interview.i Paper

The television star, along with “Noel Karma” director Gurinder Chadha, not only funds college scholarships for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, but also provides aid to families in need.

“Because we love dogs, we also support animal charities,” Nayyar said.

“But what I really like to do is go to GoFundMe at night and pay medical bills for random families. That’s my masked vigilante job!”

“So no, money doesn’t feel like a burden. It feels like a blessing from the universe.”

Nayyar also understands the value of community and the importance of helping others.

“People aren’t happy right now because we’re all waiting for someone else to be nice,” he said. “We are waiting for a president, a politician, a leader to come and bring us world peace.”

“But if your neighbor comes to your door and asks for sugar for his tea, and you lock the door to him and say ‘go away’, there will be no world peace.”

Nayyar has a tough stance when it comes to politics: grace above all else.

“People experience racism, sexism and all kinds of isms in this life because they are narrow-minded,” he said. “For me, whenever I face a challenge, I try to approach it with compassion and understanding because I don’t believe you can change someone’s mind by hitting them in the mouth.”

She added, “I think with grace, you can help heal the child within them. You can hold whatever is screaming inside of them and say: I’m here with you.”

At the height of his “Big Bang Theory” fame, Nayyar earned nearly $1 million per episode. At one point, he was one of the highest-paid actors on television. Luck.

While the “Spaceman” star has amassed a significant fortune and is reportedly worth $45 million, he still faces tough times. A one-word mantra gives Nayyar clarity.

“Sometimes if I find myself really hitting my head on something and it’s one of those days where everything goes wrong, I just tell myself to give in,” she said. “Breathe. Stop. Let’s see what happens.”

He added: “Our minds work in such a way that on a difficult day they always go to the worst-case scenario.

“So in moments like these, you really just have to look in your mind and say stop. Take a breath. Surrender to this moment and see what happens.”
