OUT. Executive departs as Cricket Australia admits conflict of interest

Cricket Australia has confirmed that a conflict of interest regarding a major IT contract led to the departure of a senior executive.

Earlier today, Cricket Australia made an announcement. An independent investigation into the controversial $600,000 SST Cloud contract confirmed an undeclared conflict of interest, leading to the sacking of the senior executive at the center of the allegations.

In its statement, CA emphasized that the internal review process began well before any media reports and that there were no hiring or purchasing policy violations other than unreported conflict.

CEO Todd Greenberg acknowledged the whistleblower’s report and proven conflict of interest, but called the executive’s actions an “error of judgment,” according to staffers present at an all-hands-on-deck update. One MWM The source said Greenberg praised the departing executive for doing a “great job” and did not take any questions from staff.

There was also no mention of multiple affiliated companies (TruFyre and SST Cloud entities), the timing of executive changes, or whether any contracts would be reviewed or canceled.

Mainstream coverage

The story has gained more attention in recent days, with many mainstream outlets covering the governance concerns and the rapid departure of a senior Digital and Technology figure. Timing of the outcome of the investigation – shortly MWMs reporting – raised eyebrows, but CA insists the process is already underway, saying: MWM,

The process was not affected by external public interest reporting.

But the speed with which the CA completed its review, coupled with its sustained media coverage, raises legitimate questions about whether public interest journalism played any role in expediting the outcome.

Meanwhile, despite the seriousness of the findings, the Australian Cricketers’ Association has yet to issue public comment or call for further assurances on officiating standards.
