Trump hits out at ‘horrible, vicious, disgusting’ Sadiq Khan as he reignites feud with London mayor

Donald Trump has reignited his long-running feud with Sir Sadiq Khan, branding him a “terrible, cruel, disgusting mayor” while criticizing immigration to the UK.

In an extraordinary interview, the US President singled out the mayor of London, calling him a “disaster” and suggesting he was doing a “terrible job”.

He said of Mr Khan, the city’s first Muslim mayor, whose parents came from Pakistan: “He is elected because so many people come. [to the UK]. They’re voting for him now.

“He’s a terrible mayor. He’s an incompetent mayor, but he’s a terrible, cruel, disgusting mayor. I think he’s done a terrible job. London is a different place. I love London. I love London. And I hate to see that happen.”

Mr Trump has repeatedly attacked Sir Sadiq since 2015, when the Labor politician condemned the then-presidential candidate’s proposed ban on Muslims traveling to the US.

In September he called Sir Sadiq “one of the worst mayors in the world” and claimed London wanted to “move to sharia law”.

The mayor of London hit back, accusing the president of being “racist, sexist, misogynist and Islamophobic.”

Meanwhile, Trump also denounced Europe as a “rotting” group of nations run by “weak” people in a wide-ranging interview with POLITICO.

“I think they are weak,” he said. “But I also think they want to be politically correct.”

“I guess they don’t know what to do,” he added. “Europe does not know what to do”

He also noted that cities such as London and Paris are struggling with immigration from Africa and the Middle East. He said that unless border policies are reformed, some European states “will no longer be viable countries.”

During a state visit to Britain in September, Mr. Trump said his administration was preventing “millions” of people from crossing the border into the United States and that immigration was “destroying countries from the inside.”

“Millions of people came in completely uncontrolled, completely unnoticed by the Biden administration,” he told reporters. “[About] 25 million, I think it would be around 25 million. They came from prisons. They came from mental hospitals. “They were gang members…they came from everywhere.”

Turning to Sir Keir, he added: “I think your situation is very similar. There are people coming in and I told the prime minister I would stop it and it doesn’t matter whether you call in the army or not, it doesn’t matter what tools you use.”

“We’re destroying countries from the inside and actually alienating a lot of people who are coming into our country right now.”

In September, Mr Trump told Sir Keir Starmer to use the military to end the small boat crisis and warned the Prime Minister that illegal immigration could “destroy” countries.
