Now drug prices will drop by 100 percent, 400 percent, 600 percent, in some cases by a thousand percent. But consider this for an eighth of a dime, Bobby. I was very proud because no one had done this for 28 years. And now that I think about it, I said I shouldn’t have held that press conference. But it’s true. I was the only one doing this, but there weren’t many. And now in some cases we will get a thousand percent discount.
This will have a huge impact on everything from Social Security to Medicare to Medicaid. Anywhere they buy prescription drugs will have an incredible impact. It will greatly degrade itself.
Aside from the fundamental fallacy in Trump’s statements (numerous fact-checking sources have pointed out that percentages don’t work that way), what’s surprising is that the president has made this claim at least five times over the course of months, without correcting himself.
