Trump orders could target ‘cashless bail’ cities from D.C. to L.A.

Mayor Trump threatened the executive action on Monday to reduce federal aid to cities and districts that offer cash bail to criminal defendants, which can be more financial coercion of democratic judicial regions throughout the country.

Trump’s first executive order was particularly targeted in the Columbia region, where the President sent national guard troops to patrol the streets. The second action led the Ministry of Justice to prepare a list of judicial zones that significantly eliminates as a potential condition for crimes that pose a clear threat to public security, public security and order – a list that will later be subject to federal financing deductions.

“Great crime in this country has begun,” Trump said. “Then it happened. Someone is killing someone, they don’t worry – no cash, we will go back in a few months, we will give you a trial. You never see the person again.”

“They thought it was a discriminatory because they killed three people lying on the street,” he added. “We finish the end.”

Trump does not have the power to unilaterally change the DC law. However, management officials hope that the threat of important financial pressures on the city will force local MPs to change themselves.

Similarly, the second order can ultimately result in federal grants and contracts with the Los Angeles County, which the courts only use cash bail in the most serious criminal cases.

Work I didn’t show A correlation between the increase in bail policies and the increase in crime.

As of October 2023, almost everyone accused of misdemeanors or non -violent crimes in Los Angeles County is quoted and released under certain circumstances after their cases have been reviewed by a judge. The judge may provide other conditions for the release of electronic monitoring or home supervision by the surveillance authorities.

“A person’s ability to pay a large amount of money should not be a decisive factor in deciding whether a person’s ability to pay a large amount of money is in prison before the hearing or released before the hearing,” he said.

The district reached the court because Trump’s executive order could affect the bail policies of the district and did not hear it again.

The district policy proved that some cities believe that the lack of cash bail will make their communities less safe. The twelve cities in the district have filed a failed lawsuit to prevent cash -free bail reform, and that it would lead to higher crime rates and violated the court’s responsibilities to maintain public security. Şerif Robert Luna, in 2023, said the supervisors were concerned about some communities of “lack of conclusions for those who commit crimes”.

Şerif Office and the Public Defender Office did not respond immediately to the request for comments.

The district initially launched a zero rod system during the pandemic to prevent crowded in prisons. A report on the Audit Board found that the examples of re -arrest or non -appearance in court remained relatively stable despite the change.

In the autumn of 2022, six people filed a lawsuit for the district and the city and argued that they kept in custody for five days, not only bail and left them in “gloomy” conditions. The plaintiffs created a “reserve -based detention system .. The case decided to prevent the city and the district from fulfilling the cash bail requirements for some people who have not yet been arrested.

In 2018, the government Jerry Brown signed an invoice to finish cash bail in California. The voters confused the bond bond industry after led a campaign to send the measure to voters. The referendum was defeated with 56% of the votes in 2020 with “No”.

Trump also signed an executive action that directed the Ministry of Justice to investigate and prosecute individuals because they burned the American flag, which despite the precedent of the Supreme Court, although it was an expression of free speech, it was called an incentive action.

Following Trump’s deployment to Los Angeles in June, the national guards at the beginning of this month were the last steps in the United States of the United States after the national guards in the DC.

Although he said that the deployment to the Trump administration was not necessary, he threatened New York and Chicago to initiate similar operations with federal forces.

“They probably want, Tr Trump said. “We wouldn’t go to Los Angeles, you’ve had to call the Olympics literally. It was very bad.”

Trump, Los Angeles in the 2028 Olympics to be held before the American cities should be “stainless”.
