Trump postpones strikes on Iran power plants, energy infrastructure

US President Donald Trump on Monday in question He would order the military to postpone attacks on Iran’s power plants and energy infrastructure for five days, following “productive” dialogue on the “complete resolution” of hostilities in the Middle East.

In his post on the Truth Social platform, Trump said that the USA and Iran “HAVE HAD VERY GOOD AND PRODUCTIVE MEETINGS REGARDING THE COMPLETE AND TOTAL SOLUTION OF OUR ENVIRONMENTS IN THE MIDDLE EAST.”

The US president said these talks will continue throughout the week. Oil prices fell rapidly following the news.

Speaking in a meeting with CNBC’s Joe Kernen on Monday morning, Trump said that talks with Iranian officials have been very intense and that he is hopeful that something very important can be achieved.

According to Kernen’s report, the US President insisted on the same call that what is happening in Iran can be described as regime change.

Trump’s comments came shortly after he gave Iran 48 hours to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

The narrow waterway is an important maritime corridor connecting the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. Roughly 20% of global oil and gas typically passes through here.

Iranian Parliament speaker Mohammad Baqir Qalibaf said that if Iranian power plants are attacked, critical infrastructure and energy facilities in the Gulf region could be “irreversibly destroyed”.
