Trump Says He Believes Gaza Ceasefire will Hold

Washington: US President Donald Trump said he believes the Israeli ceasefire in Gaza, which started on Friday, will continue because Israel and Hamas are “tired” of fighting.
“It’s going to last. I think it’s going to last. They’re all tired of the fighting,” Trump told reporters, confirming plans to travel to Israel this weekend and mediate with Egypt.
Trump said he would meet “many leaders” in Egypt on Monday to discuss the future of devastated Gaza, adding that the meeting would likely be in Cairo.
He said he would also address the Israeli parliament when he visited the country earlier the same day.
Trump said he was confident the ceasefire in Gaza would lead to broader Middle East peace.
“We have some small hot spots now, but they are very small… It will be very easy to put out. These fires will be put out very quickly,” he added.
