Trump says he feels ‘so badly’ after Tiger Woods rollover crash in Florida

President Donald Trump addressed the daytime rollover accident involving Tiger Woods on Friday; This crash resulted in the 15-time major winner being arrested on a DUI charge after authorities suspected impaired driving.

Speaking to reporters after arriving in Miami, the president spoke briefly about Woods. He said that he was only aware of the accident when he made his statements.

“I feel very bad. He’s going through some difficulties,” Trump said. “There was an accident and that’s all I know. He’s a very close friend of mine, a wonderful person, a wonderful man, but there are some difficulties.”

Woods is currently in a relationship with the president’s former daughter-in-law, Vanessa Trump.

She competed at the TGL championships earlier this week, where Vanessa Trump and her daughter Kai Trump were seen in the stands. It was Woods’ return to competitive golf after rupturing his Achilles ahead of the Masters last year.

Trump has previously spoken out about the duo’s relationship, saying he approved of Woods when they first talked about it.

“He told me about it and I said, ‘Tiger, that’s good, that’s good. I’m so happy for them both.’ But they let them both be happy. Let them both be happy. They’re both great,” Trump said in March 2025.

Woods was charged with driving under the influence, property damage and refusal to submit to testing after law enforcement said he collided with another vehicle while impaired driving on Friday afternoon.

“DUI investigators arrived on the scene and Mr. Woods showed signs of impairment. They ran several tests on him. Of course, he disclosed his injuries and surgeries. We took that into account, but they did some in-depth roadside testing,” Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said at a news conference Friday.

“We didn’t really suspect that alcohol was involved in this case, and that turned out to be true in prison. … But when it came time for us to ask for a urinalysis, he refused. And so he was charged with drunken driving for property damage and refusal to submit to legal testing.”

The five-time Augusta National winner recently remained noncommittal about playing in this year’s Masters, but Trump said in an interview with “The Five” Thursday that Woods will be at Augusta but will not play.
