President Donald Trump reacted to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s surprise resignation announcement on Saturday, saying “Marjorie went BAD.”

Trump again called the Georgia Republican a “traitor,” citing Greene’s alliance with Republican Rep. Tom Massie of Kentucky, who sponsored the bill demanding the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files by the Justice Department.

Green, who has been a close ally of Trump for years, touched on the president’s reaction to his defense of the bill in his statement and said that this was his last day in the election. House of Representatives It will be January 5th.

“Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown has decided to call this a ‘quit,’ as her poll numbers are plummeting and she doesn’t want to face a Primary Opponent with a strong Trump approval rating (where she wouldn’t have a chance of winning!),” Trump wrote in a post earlier Saturday. Real Social post.

“The WORST Republican Congressman in decades, he was not helped by his relationship with Tom Massie of Kentucky, also known as Rand Paul Jr., for voting against the Republican Party (and really good laws!),” Trump said.

“For some reason, especially because I refused to return her endless phone calls, Marjorie got BAD,” he wrote.

“Nevertheless, I will always appreciate Marjorie and thank her for her service to our country.”

Trump opposed the bill requiring the release of the Epstein files until the last minute. This week, the bill passed the House of Representatives almost unanimously and passed the Senate unanimously. The president then signed the law.

Trump spoke to NBC News about Greene on Saturday morning, saying it “won’t be easy” for her to have a future in Republican politics.

“I would like to see that,” Trump told NBC.

“He needs to get some rest,” he said.

Asked if he believed he could compromise with Greene, Trump said, “I can mend differences with anyone.”

Trump said last week he would support “the right person” if they challenge Greene in next year’s Republican primary for the seat representing Georgia’s 14th District.

In her resignation statement Friday night, Greene wrote: “I have so much self-respect and dignity, I love my family so much, and I don’t want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President we fought for, just to fight and win my election, while the Republicans will probably lose the midterms.”

“And in turn, you are expected to defend the President from impeachment after he poured tens of millions of dollars into me with hate and tried to destroy me,” Greene said.

“I refuse to be a ‘battered wife’ hoping that everything will be over and healed.”

“Defending American women who were raped at age 14, trafficked, and used by rich, powerful men should not result in me being called a traitor and threatened by the President of the United States for whom I fought.”
