Trump seeks surrender to ‘Make Iran Great Again’
US President Donald Trump claimed there would be no deal with Iran other than “unconditional surrender”, a week after launching a war with Israel against the country.
“After this and the election of a GREAT AND ACCEPTABLE Leader(s), we and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction,” Trump said in a social media post, adding that they would work to revive Iran’s economy.
Trump signed the post with the phrase “MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN (MIGA!),” a reference to his longtime campaign slogan “Make America Great Again.”

Trump told Reuters on Thursday that the United States should be involved in the process of selecting Iran’s next leader to replace religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed on the first day of the war.
Trump’s post on social media came just hours after Iran’s president announced that unspecified countries had begun mediation efforts, one of the first signals of any diplomatic initiative to end the conflict.
President Masoud Pezeshkian shared on X: “Some countries have begun mediation efforts.”
He did not specify the countries or provide further details.
“Let’s be clear: We are committed to lasting peace in the region, but we have no hesitation in defending the honor and authority of our country. Mediation must address those who belittle the Iranian people and fuel this conflict.”

In Iran’s system, the president reports to the supreme leader, but Pezeshkian currently serves on a panel that assumes Khamenei’s duties.
Israel struck the Lebanese capital Beirut on Friday after ordering an unprecedented evacuation of the city’s entire southern suburbs.
It also launched a new wave of attacks against Iran, reporting that 50 warplanes had crashed into the bunker beneath the destroyed Khamenei compound in Tehran, still being used by Iranian leaders after Khamenei was killed.
