Trump Suck-Up Eyes New Part of the White House to Destroy

Amid ongoing and highly contentious renovations to the East Wing, the new chairman of the federal arts commission hopes to please the president with new plans to replace the White House’s iconic columns with something fancier. Trump appointed Rodney Mims Cook Jr. as the new chairman of the federal Fine Arts Commission in late January. The president told the Washington Post in a report published Sunday that he suggested changing the columns adorning the entrance of the White House to fit Trump’s design preferences. The existing columns are Ionic, slender, and feature an elegant scroll-like capital. Cook wants to replace them with Corinthian columns that are more ornate and suit the president’s flamboyant style.
