Trump threatens tariffs on countries that ‘discriminate’ against US tech | Trump tariffs

Donald Trump threatened taxes, legislation and regulations to apply tariffs and export restrictions to countries targeting major technology companies such as Google, Meta, Amazon and Apple.

“Digital taxes, legislation, rules or regulations are all designed to damage or discriminate against American technology, Tr Trump said in an article in Truth Social, the US president’s social media platform.

The authority added with a 2% tax of such measures, which contain a digital service tax that collects approximately £ 800 million annually from the UK’s global technology companies.

“As the President of the United States, I will withstand the countries that attack our incredible American technology companies, Tr Trump said. “Unless these discriminatory actions are removed, as the President of the United States, I will apply important additional tariffs to the export of that country to the USA and start export restrictions on our high -protected technology and chips.”

The threat of Trump is pressing on the UK and the EU, both of which have arrangements to prevent the power of major technology companies through the Digital Services Act, both of which have realized their latest trade agreements with the USA.

Many EU member states, including France, Italy and Spain, also have digital service taxes.

Although US officials were held in place after the agreement with the Trump administration in May, he criticized Britain’s digital service tax (DST), which has been in force since 2020.

Trump complained about the impact of DSTs in the world on US companies.

In February, he issued an executive order advocating American companies and innovators from overseas extortion and unfair fines and penalties.

In April, Keir Starmer’s Big US technology companies offered a decrease in the title ratio of DST to soothe Trump, while at the same time imposed taxes from other countries to companies.

“American and American technology companies, neither ‘Piggy Bank’ nor the world ‘mop’, said Trump on Monday. “Respect America and our spectacular technology companies or consider the results.”

SPREAD THE PAST BULLETIN PROMOTION

The President’s warning comes a week after the US and the EU agree on a joint statement that they will “handle unjust trade barriers”.

However, the EU said it did not commit to changing any digital arrangement separately.

In June, Canada scrapped the digital service tax, which he described as a “direct and open an attack to soften the commercial negotiations with Trump’s neighbor.
