New woke madness as Sherlock Holmes play slapped with trigger warning | UK | News

After a popular theater decided to include trigger warnings for 22 shows for the 2025/2026 season, it came under fire – including the warning masses that Sherlock Holmes production may contain crime references.
Sherlock warned a new trigger warning for Holmes’ production: Moriarty Hunt warns the show owners of the Everman Theater in Cheltenham that the show includes “war and crime, possible death and murder debates”.
Among the other warnings, an inspector Morse play, while fighting with the terrible death, Midsomer murders have “murder, death and crime” warnings.
Meanwhile, Stephen King has “prison, suicide, death, violence, sexual themes, sexual themes, sexual violence ,, and all three operas carry warnings with subjects during the performance of Shawshank Redemption.
The inclusion of warnings is to ensure that the audience can make conscious choices about what they will follow without being aware of a potentially sad issue. Sun
However, not everyone did not meet the decision with open arms, Freedom of Speaking Toby Young, a member of the Lords Assembly, was not seen as a ridiculous result.
Lord Young of Acton, who shared his amazingness, said, “If this theater maintained a production of hazelnuts, he would have to put a warning that said, ‘It may contain hazelnuts’.
Content warnings are not almost a new addition for the Everyman Theater, because in Christmas, they hit the press to give trigger warnings to Aladdin’s pandomim production.
The content warning said: “Panto is very fun, but sometimes it can be a little high and a little cheeky, only with some jokes that adults will understand.
By warning people in advance, it allows the audience to make conscious choices about what they want to watch without a bad surprise that can affect the show of the show.
Defending the decisions of incorporating new warnings, the Everyman Theater said: “There are trigger warnings to make conscious decisions to make conscious decisions.
“For most of the audience, a look at the content warning panel will not mean much. These warnings are vital for the following.”
“We aim to make the theater accessible to everyone, and that’s why it triggers warnings.”
