Trump to meet Xi in China in May, White House says

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said US President Donald Trump will visit China with Chinese President Xi Jinping for an official visit on May 14 and 15, and Xi will visit Washington DC for a reciprocal visit at a later date.
The visit was originally planned for next week but was postponed due to the ongoing US-Israeli war against Iran.
Leavitt said Xi understood the need to reschedule the trip.
“I am pleased to announce that President Trump’s meeting in China and his long-awaited meeting with President Xi will now take place in Beijing on May 14 and 15,” Leavitt said at the press conference. he said.

“First Lady Melania and President Trump will also host President Xi and Madame Peng for a mutual visit to Washington, DC, at a date to be announced later this year.”
Trump’s last visit to China in 2017 was the last visit by a US president.
Trump’s visit will be the leaders’ first face-to-face meeting since an October meeting in South Korea where they agreed to a trade truce.
