Trump to undergo routine medical exam at Walter Reed hospital on Friday

President Donald Trump will undergo a routine medical examination during his visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday, the White House said.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump will visit the hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, and meet with soldiers.

“Friday morning, President Trump will visit Walter Reed Medical Center for a planned meeting and remarks with troops,” Leavitt said in a statement. he said. “While there, President Trump will stop by for his routine annual physical. He will then return to the White House.”

Leavitt added that 79-year-old Trump is also considering “going to the Middle East soon.” The possible visit would take place after Hamas accepts the first phase of Trump’s peace deal to end the war in Gaza and return hostages.

The medical examination will be Trump’s second examination this year. He underwent a similar examination in April, and his doctor declared him “in excellent health.”

“President Trump is in excellent health, exhibiting strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and overall physical function,” the president’s physician, Navy Capt. Sean P. Barbabella, said at the time.

But in July, the president was diagnosed with a vascular condition known as chronic venous insufficiency. At the time, Leavitt said he noticed “slight swelling” in Trump’s lower legs and was evaluated by the White House medical unit.

Chronic venous insufficiency occurs when the veins in the legs have trouble allowing blood to flow back to the heart.

Leavitt attributed the bruising on the president’s hand to “frequent handshakes and aspirin use.”
