President Donald Trump continues to remodel the White House inside and out, and he’s happy to show off the changes even as critics slam him as “tone deaf” for touting flashy renovations during a costly government shutdown.
On Friday afternoon, Trump shared two dozen photos of the newly renovated bathroom; the bathroom was now covered from floor to ceiling in what the president described as “black and white polished sculptural marble.”

“This was very appropriate for Abraham Lincoln’s time and may actually be the marble found there!” Trump wrote in one in seven Real Social posts Includes renovation photos.
In the photos, the bathroom also features gold accessories and accents, including bath and sink faucets, wall sconces, and a wastebasket, as well as a crystal hanging chandelier.
Trump told NBC News in July He said he plans to renovate the bathroom of the historic Lincoln Bedroom in a style more appropriate to the era of the 16th president, who was in office from 1861 until his assassination in 1865.
The previous decor, in the art deco green tile style, was “completely inappropriate for the Lincoln Era,” Trump wrote in Friday’s post.

Trump’s Democratic critics attacked the construction updates and criticized him for focusing on bathroom renovations; The government shutdown, now in its 31st day, threatens access to critical federal services.

When asked for a response to these criticisms, White House spokesman Davis Ingle told CNBC: “Democrats are more interested in President Trump’s historic beautification of the White House than they are in the American citizens they are hurting by the reckless government shutdown.”
In another Truth Social post on Friday, Trump said he oversaw construction on the Kennedy Center, fired several board members months ago, and set himself up as a chair.
“It looks really nice!” wrote. “The exterior columns, which are in serious danger of corrosion unless something is done, have been completed and look amazing with White Enamel – It feels like a different place!”
“Marble is being built, stages are being renovated, new seats, new chairs and new fabrics will soon be installed, and gorgeous high-end carpeting will be installed throughout the building,” Trump wrote.
The update came hours after the Washington Post reported He said ticket sales at the Kennedy Center have fallen in recent months.
