Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner managed to maintain an amicable relationship following their divorce in 2018.
The exes put on another united front on Friday as they took their 14-year-old son Samuel on an errand trip in sunny Los Angeles.
It would be hard for even the most casual observer not to notice how happy they looked together, as if nothing had come between them.
Garner, 53, had a spring in her step as she wrapped her arm around her son’s shoulders.
Affleck, 53, who recently treated Samuel to chicken nuggets at McDonald’s, appeared generally content as he walked through a parking lot.
The former couple, who also share 20-year-old Violet and 17-year-old Fin, have remained a solid family unit through it all; reunited for holidays and children’s birthdays.

The Argo director looked content as ever, while the Alias alum had a spring in his step
On February 28, the Argo manager and the Alias alum continued their annual tradition by hosting a paintball party for Samuel’s 14th birthday.
They arrived at Combat Paintball Park in Castaic, California and looked ready for action.
Affleck was seen lovingly hugging and laughing with Garner while celebrating their son’s 13th birthday at the same paintball park a year ago.
Their latest outing came after Garner spoke candidly with her ex-husband about the realities of co-parenting three children in two homes.
We’re talking to host Charlotte Owen The Only Nightstand of Bustle In the YouTube series, Garner talked about how she found the balance between raising her children with “conscientiousness” and “appreciation.”
‘And I think my children’s father is too. “Especially when your children grow up in two separate homes, I become the parent and they become the father and mother,” he said.
‘You can’t stop this, can you? Because there is no advantage in having both sides of yin and yang in the same house.
‘There’s some loss in this, but there’s also something gained. Just learn too. This allowed me to let go and not focus so much on nurturing.’

Should exes be closely involved with their children, or is there a risk of confusing family boundaries?
The former couple, spotted in 2014, had been married for 10 years, had three children, and frequently got together for holidays and children’s birthdays.

Garner has been dating burger chain CEO John Miller (pictured) for seven years and their relationship is still going strong
In a recent interview with Marie Claire UK, Garner described the collapse of her marriage as “difficult.”
‘You have to be smart about what you can and can’t deal with, and I couldn’t deal with what was going on there,’ he admitted. ‘That was actually the hard part. It was hard for a family to truly fall apart. ‘It was hard to lose a true partnership and friendship.’
The actress added that despite her career in Hollywood, prioritizing her children never felt like a sacrifice: ‘That’s definitely shaped the jobs I’ve chosen in a big way.’
Meanwhile, Garner’s relationship with burger chain CEO John Miller continues to grow stronger after seven years, while Affleck’s second marriage to Jennifer Lopez ended in 2024 after two years.
