Trump warns Iran ‘a whole civilisation will die’ as deadline nears; Pakistan asks for two-week extension; US strikes Kharg Island
Confirming new attacks on military targets on Iran’s major oil terminal Kharg Island, US Vice President J.D. Vance said he hoped Iran would “make the right response” by 8pm on Tuesday (US time).
“What we really want is a world where oil and gas flow freely, where people can afford to heat and cool their homes, where people can afford transportation to get to work. That’s not going to happen if the Iranians engage in acts of economic terrorism,” Vance said at a news conference in Budapest.
“So they need to know that we have tools in our toolbox that we have not yet decided to use. The president of the United States may decide to use them, and he will decide to use them if the Iranians do not change their behavior.”
When asked about new reports of attacks on Kharg Island, Vance said, “We were going to hit some military targets on Kharg Island. I believe we did that.”
