Trump-Zelenskyy Meet: US President Hesitant On Selling Tomahawk Missile, Says ‘Have An Obligation…’ | World News

Trump-Zelenskyy Meeting: US President Donald Trump expressed his hesitations about selling ‘Tomahawk’ long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine in a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday (local time). Meanwhile, during a bilateral lunch with the Ukrainian President at the White House, Trump reiterated his confidence in facilitating an end to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
“But I have an obligation as a country to make sure our stockpile is fully stocked… We’re going to talk about Tomahawks, and we’d rather they (Ukraine) didn’t need Tomahawks. We’d rather the war be over,” Trump said.
This reluctance came just days after Trump warned Russian President Vladimir Putin about supplying missiles to Kiev if it did not resolve the dispute.

ANI, citing several local media outlets, reported earlier on Sunday that Trump had stated that he was considering sending US-made Tomahawk cruise missiles to Kiev.
“To be honest with you, I may have to talk to Russia about Tomahawks,” the US President told reporters aboard Air Force One en route to West Asia.
He added that he would send Kiev Tomahawks if the Ukrainian conflict “is not resolved,” according to ANI, Russian news agency TASS reported.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict
Trump reiterated his call for an immediate end to the Russia-Ukraine war after meeting Zelenskyy on Friday (local time), urging both sides to “stop the killing” and negotiate a peace deal.
In his post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump described the meeting with Zelenskyy as “very interesting and sincere” and made a direct appeal to both Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He also noted that enough blood had been shed on the property lines described as “War and Valor”.
“I told him, as I strongly suggested to President Putin, that it was time to stop the killings and make a DEAL!” Trump wrote. “Enough blood has been shed, the boundaries of possessions have been determined by War and Valor. They must stand where they are. Let both claim Victory, let History decide!”
Emphasizing the human and financial cost of the conflict, Trump added: “No more shooting, no more Death, no more spending vast and unsustainable amounts of money. This would never have started if I were President.”
“Thousands of people are being murdered every week – NO MORE, GO TO YOUR FAMILIES IN PEACE!” He concluded.
During the meeting, the US President expressed optimism about the possibility of brokering a “long-lasting” peace between Russia and Ukraine.
