Trump’s Aide Makes Wild Charge Over India Buying Oil From Moscow, Calls Ukraine-Russia Conflict ‘Modi’s War’ | India News

White House Trade Advisor Peter Navarro criticized India’s decision to purchase Russian oil in an interview on Wednesday (local time). He called the Russian-Ukraine conflict as “Modi’s War”, and claimed that new Delhi’s oil purchases indirectly finance Moscow’s war efforts.

In an interview with Bloomberg Television’s balance of power, Navarro said that India ‘helping Russia’ by buying oil from Russia. He also claimed that everyone in the United States had lost due to new Delhi’s actions.

Navarro said that the high tariffs of America have lost individuals, including consumers, businesses and workers, as they cost US business, factories, income and higher wages.

“And then he loses taxpayers, because we have to finance Modi’s war.” He said.

His statements follow US President Donald Trump’s statement on sweeping and implementing important tariffs in India. He implemented new tariffs in Ukraine, saying that Russia helped the war.

The US applied a high percentage tariff to Indian goods due to Russian oil purchases. The 25 percent tariff for the United States for Indian goods brought the total tariff to 50 percent.

India criticized the US tariffs and said, “Unfair and unreasonable.”

In the interview, “Indians are very arrogant in this regard. Oh, we do not have higher tariffs. Oh, we do not have higher tariffs. Oh, this is our sovereignty. We can buy oil from everyone we want. India, the world’s greatest democracy.
