Pupil ‘stabbed with baiting needle’ in a Wallasey school | UK | News

A boy has been arrested after reports a pupil had been assaulted at a school in England, police said. Merseyside Police were called to St Mary’s College, Wallesey, on January 30 after receiving a report of a child allegedly being stabbed with a bait pin by another child at around 2.25pm.

The school student, who was allegedly stabbed, was taken to the hospital and treated for the wound on his leg. The police force said he was in stable condition. A 13-year-old boy from Rock Ferry was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent. Police said he was in police custody for questioning.

Merseyside Police said officers attended the school to provide reassurance and remained there to conduct further investigations into the incident.

Inspector Ian Wild said: “I know pupils, parents and the wider community will be shocked and saddened to hear that a young child has been harmed in this way at school.

“The use of a sharp object to harm others is of course never acceptable. We will continue our investigations into this incident through our School Officers and the Safer Schools Partnership next week and provide support to the school.

“We visit schools across Merseyside all year long to explain the dangers of using knives and other weapons and the serious consequences both victim and offender can face. The circumstances of this incident show very clearly why this work is so important.”

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Merseyside Police social media desk via X @MerPolCC or on Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Center’ on 26000082360.
