TTD Focuses On Increasing Greenery at Ramatheertham Hill

KADAPA: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has initiated measures to increase greenery in Ramatheertham and Lakshmanatheertham hills located near Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple at Ontimitta in Kadapa district.
The initiative follows Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s directions to improve greenery around historic temple premises. In line with the instructions, TTD forestry directorate prepared a plan for planting tree species that are suitable for local climatic conditions and can survive in rocky terrain.
TTD joint executive officer V. Veerabrahmam inspected Ramatheertham hill on Thursday and made several suggestions to officials from the forest and engineering departments.
Ramatheertham and Lakshmanatheertham hills together cover an area of about 10 hectares. Since the land consists largely of rocks, TTD started planting tree varieties that can grow among rocky surfaces. Raavi, Marri, Tellamaddi and Jeelugu saplings were planted under the pilot project. TTD plans to plant approximately 3,000 saplings in stages.
