Trump administration unveils ‘temporary pass’ plan to protect immigrants in certain industries

The Trump administration has announced that it has prepared a new “temporary” system designed to allow long -term migrant workers in critical sectors such as agriculture and hospitality in developing an important policy. The announcement was made by President Trump during a FOX News interview, released on 29 June 2025 and approved by the Ministry of Interior Security officials.

The initiative is in response to concerns from country -wide farmers and business owners, warning that aggressive migration implementation and abolition of experienced workers may dismiss their operations. “When you have a person working on a farm for nine years, when you have a hard workmanship with which you are willing to undertake, and when you remove all these workers, when you endanger the farmer’s living. This is a serious problem.” Most of these workers have been employed for 10 to 20 years, deep ties with their communities, and that the country is an integral part of the food supply and service industries.

According to NBC News, temporary transition will not offer a way for citizenship, but will allow qualified immigrants to remain in the country and continue to work legally, provided that they meet certain criteria. Management is considering requirements such as long -term evidence evidence, clean criminal record and employer sponsorship. Trump emphasized that the plan will enable employers to have more surveillance, “Farmers know their workers and will not hire dangerous people.”
The Ministry of Interior said it aims to establish a balance between the strict immigration practices of policy and the economic facts faced by American enterprises. At the beginning of this month, immigration and customs conservation (ICE) paused the arrests of the field of study in agriculture and hospitality, responded to industrial complaints, but soon after the violent criminals will not be a “safe paradise için for those who protect the criminals continued with a warning.

Industrial groups and immigrant defenders expect further details, especially for compliance, time and workers’ protection. The proposal is expected to interact with existing visa programs such as H-2A and H-2B, but the full application details are still being improved.

This movement represents a remarkable re -calibration of the administration’s approach to migration, as the 2026 election cycle approaches and labor shortage continues to be an emergency concern for key sectors.
