Two arrested for operating illegal telephone exchange in Bengaluru

On August 4, the Central Crime Branch officials caught an international illegal telephone racket operating in Bengaluru and arrested two people who transformed international calls into local calls using a SIM box and mobile application.
Defendant – 31 -year -old Fayaz Ma and 30 -year -old Muhammad Saffaf – Mallapuram in Kerala. Police said they have operated the racket for the last six months from a rental accommodation in Immadihalli in Bengaluru.
The defendant was allegedly withdrawn from the racket and shared the money on a monthlyly with the operators in the Gulf via Hawala.
Based on information from a private service provider and Telekom department, CCB officials raided the building and arrested the duo. The CCB seized 703 SIM cards and other equipment used for the racket.
The defendants would receive SIM cards from foreign countries by the courier and win illegally about 5 lakh per month. The police suspect that many more people join the racket and their efforts to follow them.
“The racket is useful for immigrant workers working in the Gulf countries and calls their families at cheaper prices through this facility,” he said.
The City Police Commissioner, who appeared, said Singh, Exchequer and the loss of the crime angle, who appreciated the CCB operation for breaking the case.
