Two arrests after a pursuit on the Métropolitaine
Two men, a 29-year-old driver from Laval and his 21-year-old passenger, were arrested during the night from Thursday to Friday after a chase on the Métropolitaine highway, at the junction with the Décarie highway.

Around 3:40 a.m. Friday, reports the Sûreté du Québec, patrol officers spotted a white car registered in Ontario “which was speeding” on Highway 40 eastbound, says spokesperson Béatrice Dorsinville.
“The white car did not stop when the police activated the emergency equipment, but rather accelerated,” said the spokesperson. A few kilometers later, the driver hit a concrete wall and fled on foot. The SQ could not indicate on which road exactly this collision took place. The 29-year-old driver was quickly arrested with the collaboration of the City of Montreal Police Department. The passenger, who remained at the scene of the accident, was also arrested.
The investigation is ongoing to identify the owner of the vehicle, which was not in the driver’s name, and whether alcohol was a factor.
