Two J&K residents held for displaying U.S., Israel flags

Jammu and Kashmir police were detained on Monday, June 23, 2025 for exhibiting the US and Israel’s flags in Balhama at the foot of the Srinagar city.
A police spokesman said two people were detained to establish foreign flags in the attempt to “disrupt public peace and order” during the night hours.

“The Srinagar police, who moved on reliable inputs, including visual evidence showing the installation of the US and Israeli flags, immediately launched an investigation,” he said. Six to seven suspects were identified and questioned. “Continuous inquiry led to the approval of the participation of three people,” the police said.
Police suspects Mohsin Ali Dar, Bilal Ahmad Dar and all Balhama residents Amir Ali Dar defined. Police, “the defendants were detained, the third efforts to capture the third,” he said.
According to the J&B police, the action was seen as a deliberate attempt to “provoke public sensitivity, disturb social harmony and spread anti-social narratives”. Police said, “Legal proceedings have been initiated in accordance with the relevant legal provisions,” the police said.
