Two militants arrested in Manipur’s Bishnupur

Security forces have arrested two militants belonging to banned organizations in Manipur, police said on Sunday (January 18, 2026).

They said an active cadre of the banned People’s Liberation Army was captured from his home in Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou in Bishnupur district on Saturday, January 17.

A member of the outlawed PREPAK (Pro) was arrested on Saturday in Basari Ahalup in the district, a police officer said.

“Security forces continue to conduct search operations and area domination in border and sensitive areas in the districts,” he said.

Meanwhile, the officer added that during a week-long drive from January 12 to January 17 at various places within Saikul police station limits in Kangpokpi district, security personnel destroyed 306 acres of illegal poppy cultivation.
