Two more ads banned over ‘misleading’ government funding claim

The UK’s advertising observer banned two more heat pump advertisements for consumers misleading about installation costs.
Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) found that it could not include information about the current government financing of ads from home heating supplier Aira and EDF Energy for the establishment of existing government financing for the establishment of pumps.
ASA’s heat pumps can be installed in a short period of £ 500, claiming that consumers are a week after the prohibition of advertising from octopus energy for misleading.
Meta Reklam for Aira, which was seen in March, said, “Today, take your gas boiler for an Aira heat pump… 7,500 £ grant is available.”
Aira said that the advertisement only targets homeowners living in England and Scotland, and there are £ 7,500 government grants to replace gas boilers with a heat pump.
The company said he would not believe that a consumer would interpret the ad to mean that the grants are given automatically and unconditionally.
He claimed that social media advertisements did not allow a comprehensive explanation and that consumers would be confused with expressions such as ‘application of conformity criteria’.
In practice, they said that almost all customers who changed a gas boiler with a heat pump in their own homes were suitable for £ 7,500.
However, ASA said that the advertising will automatically be suitable for consumers automatically to receive a £ 7,500 government grant and that financing for a heat pump is subject to conformity.
In February, EDF’s Google ad said: “Buy 7,500 £ grant – EDF air source heat pumps.”
EDF, advertising, government financing of all information about the conformity criteria is connected to one of the three pages, he said.
Again, ASA said that the advertisement does not clearly state that government financing is subject to conformity for a heat pump.
ASA said: ık We thought that this was the material information that should be included. We concluded that advertising would be misleading because it skipped financial information. ”
Last week, ASA said that advertisements that make price demands for the installation of heat pumps to Octopus, including any government grant included in the advertising price and the presence of conformity criteria, including all the material information, including the existence of all material information, he said.
