Fifa Best: Aitana Bonmati wins women’s player of the year award

Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati was chosen as the women’s player of the year at the Fifa Best Awards for the third time in a row.

The 27-year-old was a key part of the Spain team that finished second to England at Euro 2025 and won the player of the tournament award.

The Spaniard also finished second in the Champions League with Barcelona, ​​who lost to Arsenal in the final.

He said of the Fifa award: “I’m grateful to have this honour. I wouldn’t have won this award if it wasn’t for all the players, coaches and fans – [but] I will enjoy it.”

Bonmati was also awarded the women’s Ballon d’Or award in September, becoming the first player to win the award three times, which she also won in 2023 and 2024.

He picked up the Fifa Best award in 2024, following a historic quadruple win with Barcelona, ​​and in 2023, following a World Cup triumph with Spain.

Arsenal and Spain midfielder Mariona Caldentey and Barcelona striker Alexia Putellas have also been nominated for this year’s Fifa Best award.
