Two Thieves Robbing Railway Passengers Arrested, Valuables Worth Rs 25L Recovered

Hyderabad: Special teams of Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested two criminals involved in zipper thefts and recovered 210 grams of gold worth Rs 25 lakh stolen from railway passengers.

According to SP-GRP’s Chandana Deepti, the duo had stolen valuables from passengers in trains plying under Secunderabad division. The accused Kokila Manraju, 39, a native of Bangalore, and S. Dina, 27, a native of Tamil Nadu, booked train tickets to travel in an AC coach of Nanded Express on December 2. The duo boarded the train in Visakhapatnam. Chandana said that during their journey to Charlapally, they observed the bags of two female passengers and tactically unzipped the bags and stole the wallets containing gold ornaments.

After committing the crime, they moved to another coach and attacked Charlapally. However, police teams tracked the whereabouts of these people and arrested them near Gate-2 of Secunderabad railway station at 8 am on Thursday, DSP-GRP, SN Jawed said.

The defendants were referred to the courthouse.
