Two US navy ships collide, US Southern Command says

US Southern Command said in an e-mail statement to Reuters that the US warship and the navy supply ship collided while refueling.
In the statement made by the Southern Command, whose areas of responsibility include Central and South America and the Caribbean, the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Truxtun and the Supply-class fast combat support ship USNS Supply collided during the replenishment at sea.
The location of the collision was not specified.
“It was reported that two personnel were slightly injured and their condition was stable,” the statement said.
The statement stated that the incident is currently under investigation and both ships departed safely.
The Wall Street Journal first reported that the collision occurred near South America and said the cause was not yet clear.
