Two women workers killed in fire at chemical warehouse in Indore

Police said that two female workers were burned to death after a huge fire broke out in a warehouse where thinner and other flammable chemicals were stored on Saturday night, November 1, 2025.
The incident took place when lamps were being lit on the occasion of Devuthani Ekadashi and the warehouse owner was also injured, an official said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Alok Sharma said that the fire broke out in the warehouse in Rau area. PTI.
He said that the bodies removed from the warehouse were determined to belong to Jyoti and Ramkali, both in their 50s.
“Devuthani Ekadashi prayers were being offered at the warehouse. The owner, Suraj Bhagwani, suffered burns on both hands and was rushed to a nearby hospital. His condition is out of danger,” Mr. Sharma said.
Two children in the warehouse managed to escape safely.
The official said preliminary investigation revealed that thinner and other chemicals were mixed and packaged in the warehouse.
Mr. Sharma added that the fire was brought under control and a detailed investigation was ongoing.
