Neo-Nazi Joel Davis was exiled from NSN after he ‘pissed off’ the group’s national leaders, text messages have revealed

Text messages sent to the court revealed neo-Nazi Joel Davis was exiled from NSN for “angrying” national leaders and causing “chaos” at a time when members were “facing enough drama”.

Mr Davis, a former member of the National Socialist Network (NSN), is accused of harassing federal MP Allegra Spender and NSW Liberal Leader Kellie Sloane online, according to court documents.

Mr Davis has not yet entered a plea to 10 charges of using a carriage service to threaten, harass or offend.

He admitted to writing “Patriots, I order you to rhetorically rape Allegra Spender” in a message after denouncing an NSN rally outside the state parliament on Telegram last November, and the message later went viral after being shared on social media.

When Mr Davis learned that NSN’s NSW leader, Jack Eltis, had not asked for his “rape post”, he allegedly questioned where the “legal issue” had been given and said “rhetorically it was rape”, adding that “the whole point was to be provocative” in texts tendered in court documents.

The documents allege that Mr Eltis banished Mr Davis from the group the next day and told him that NSN’s national leadership was “just as angry about the rape comments”.

“I am suspending you until Christmas (December 25) for bringing the organization into public disrepute (rape comment) and creating disunity and further chaos at a time when members’ personal information has been deleted and they are facing enough drama,” Mr. Eltis’ Telegram message said.

“The entire episode was spent all day answering questions from our friends and family about whether we support rape, even though they are already having to explain their worldview and losing their jobs.

“It’s very unfortunate that you couldn’t just take the win and had to ruin it with stupid rape comments. Honestly, the whole situation is extremely disappointing.”

Mr Davis allegedly said the rape comment was a “throwaway phrase” and that he didn’t expect it to get much of a reaction.

“This is a wake-up call… I will make the necessary adjustments,” Mr Davis allegedly said.

Mr. Davis had previously described the comment in other text messages as “good publicity” and wrote “the whole purpose is to be provocative,” according to court documents.

Mr Davis is also accused of sending a Telegram message in September 2025 in which he allegedly said “she should be raped” in response to the eSafety Commissioner announcing he would resign after receiving threats from neo-Nazis.

Mr Davis allegedly wrote in response to the article: “Eat shit, bitch. Bullying works.”

“I have to rape… It’s too bad, I can’t take credit or I’ll be blamed (sic).”

In response to an article about Ms Sloane, Mr Davis is also accused of sending the following text: “Stupid bitch… (Really) needs to be beaten.”

Mr Davis was released from custody last week after being granted bail by the NSW Supreme Court.

Although he has not yet entered a plea, he is expected to plead his case before a jury trial.

Written submissions submitted on his behalf in his fight for bail claim that “the term ‘rhetorical rape’ is a sexual metaphor used in literature to describe a style of discussion and debate, and that the metaphor can be traced back to ancient times.”

In his third unsuccessful bail application in January, Mr Davis claimed he was no longer a member of NSN, just days after the group announced it would be shut down. This was confirmed by Justice Natalie Adams in the Supreme Court last week.

His lawyer, Sebastian De Brennan, also claimed that his client had changed some of his political views and wanted to focus only on his family.

Under his bail conditions, Mr Davis was banned from coming within 100 meters of or communicating with Ms Spending and Ms Sloane’s electoral offices and was also banned from using social media.
