Man charged after police shooting in suburban street

A man faced multiple charges for more than two months after he was shot by police during a confrontation on a suburban street.

Police officers shot the 27-year-old at Logan Central in Brisbane’s south about 7.50pm on March 21, following reports of a disturbance involving a man allegedly armed with a knife.

“During the incident, officers discharged their firearms and attacked the man,” police said in a statement Sunday. he said.

“A 27-year-old Koongal man was transported to hospital for treatment.”

The man has since been charged with willful damage, receiving defective goods, serious assault on a police officer while simulating a gun/pretending to be armed, possession of dangerous drugs and being armed with intent to create fear.

He was remanded in custody and will appear before Beenleigh Magistrates’ Court on May 27.

Police said the attack was being investigated by the Ethical Standards Command, under the supervision of the Crime and Corruption Commission.
