Bollywood singer Udit Narayan Jha landed in hot water on Thursday, February 12, 2026, after his alleged first wife Ranjana Jha recently filed a complaint at a women police station in north Bihar’s Supaul district. She leveled accusations that her uterus was removed without her consent by her husband Udit Narayan Jha and two of his brothers during an operation in Delhi in 1996.

In her complaint to the police, Ranjana Jha said that she married Udit Narayan Jha as per Hindu rituals on December 7, 1984.

Ranjana Jha (61), daughter of Chandrakant Jha, along with her lawyer Karunakant Jha, approached the women police station in north Bihar’s Supaul district, where she resides, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. He also claimed that he became aware of the operation during a medical consultation years later.

According to him, Udit Narayan Jha moved to Mumbai in 1985 to pursue his singing career in Bollywood. However, he later came to know from media reports that he had married another woman named Deepa Narayan. “He continued to mislead her” every time she was questioned about it.

Ranjana Jha alleged that in 1996, on the pretext of medical treatment, Udit Narayan Jha and his two brothers, Sanjay Kumar Jha and Lalit Narayan Jha, took her to a major hospital in Delhi, where her uterus was surgically removed without her consent.

In 2006, she alleged that she was verbally abused and denied entry to Udit Narayan Jha’s house in Mumbai. She received the same treatment when she later visited her mother-in-law’s home in Nepal. “Since then, I have had to live in my parental home in Supaul,” he claimed in his complaint to the Supaul police.

She also said that she filed a lawsuit in the Supaul Family Court and appealed to the Women’s Commission. She claimed that Udit Narayan Jha had “accepted” her as his wife in writing during the course of the case and had also filed a compromise petition. “But since then I have received neither respect nor any support from my husband Udit Narayan Jha or his family. I want justice,” she alleged.

“The charges leveled by Ranjana Jha are under investigation and an FIR will be registered on her complaint based on the findings of the investigation. The incidents mentioned in her complaint are approximately 30 years old,” Anju Tiwari, head woman police station, told media persons.
