UFC Star McGregor Suspended 18 Months Over Missed Drug Tests

Los Angeles: Anti-Doping officials said in a statement on Tuesday that the mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor had been suspended for 18 months after missing three drug tests in a 12-month period.

War Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD) said in a statement, a former Ultimate Fighting Championship feather-bearing and 37-year-old Irishman McGregor, a light champion, accepted the suspension.

CSAD said McGregor, one of the most banking fighters of UFC, missed three tests last year on June 13 and September 20.

The agency said that McGregor provided information that he had fully cooperated with the investigation, accepted responsibility and helps to explain why he missed the tests.

“Despite these mitigating factors, CSAD emphasizes that the files of the accurately and the ability to test unannounced tests are necessary for the success of the UFC Anti-Doping protocol.” He said.

The organ reduced McGregor’s sentence from two -year standard to 18 months and reversed the start date of suspending to September 2024.

McGregor will be free to fight again until March 20 next year, and potentially will be free to fight at a UFC event that was planned to take place in the White House next year to coincide with US President Donald Trump’s birthday.

UFC General Manager Dana White said on Saturday, although warriors have not yet been signed, McGregor, the White House card has repeatedly said that he hoped to fight.

“We haven’t started negotiating any fight for the White House yet,” after an event in Las Vegas. He said. “You can clearly see that Conor has been fired too much to fight on this card, but nothing has been done yet.”
