UGC fake universities list 2026: Full state-wise list of 29 blacklisted institutions in India

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has identified 32 fake universities operating across 12 states of India and issued a warning to students and parents to stay away from these institutions whose degrees are considered invalid for employment and higher education. According to the list, Delhi has the highest number of universities with 12 universities, followed by Uttar Pradesh with four universities. UGC, a statutory body under the Ministry of Education, has clarified that these institutions are not recognized by the Central or State Governments and do not have the authority to award valid degrees under the UGC Act.
