Can’t give LoP status out of fear: Speaker

Andhra Parliament Speaker C Ayannapatrudu said YSRCP Supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy could not give it to the leader of the opposition status to remove fear. Referring to the rules, YSRCP did not have the required number of MLA to ensure the recognition of Reddy’s LOP.

“Why (Jagan) asks why they can’t give it without figures (opposition leader)? Ayannapatrü asked, addressing the parliament. In the 175 -member parliament, only 11 mla and YSRCP do not meet the necessary threshold to be recognized as the official opposition party that requires at least 18 mla.
