UK parcel company crashes into liquidation – in business since 2002 | UK | News

A UK parcel company has entered liquidation, with administrators moving to formally wind up the business. Winn & Pepworth Limited, which operates in the parcel courier industry, has entered into Members’ Voluntary Liquidation. The firm is headquartered at Chester House, Lloyd Drive, in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. The process began on March 25, when members appointed joint liquidators to oversee the closure of the company. Paul W Barber and Paul Stanley of Manchester insolvency firm BTG Begbies Traynor (Central) LLP have been appointed as liquidators. Accordingly NewspaperNotification was made to creditors on April 2.

The company provides package delivery services, a sector that has seen rapid growth in recent years, driven by demand for online shopping. Members’ Voluntary Liquidation generally means that the company chooses to close in an orderly manner, not due to financial distress, the company is able to pay its debts.

Liquidators will now deal with the winding up of the company’s affairs, including settling remaining liabilities and distributing funds to shareholders.

The business has been operating since 2002, according to Companies House.

It comes after Pedal and Post, an Oxford-based courier company, formally appointed liquidators just weeks after the business was closed in January.

The courier service was known for delivering packages by bike, but Oxford residents have reported delays in the delivery of many packages since the end of January, with some missing for “more than a week”, This Is Oxfordshire reports.

A total of 60 employed and self-employed Pedal and Post team members in Oxford and London lost their jobs as a result of the company’s collapse.
