UK sees no evidence Iran targeting Europe with missiles

A British cabinet minister said there were no assessments to support claims that Iran was planning or capable of hitting Europe with ballistic missiles.
The Israel Defense Forces announced on social media on Saturday that Iran has missiles that “can reach London, Paris or Berlin.”
“There is no assessment to substantiate what is being said,” British Housing Secretary Steve Reed told the BBC on Sunday.
“I am not aware of any assessment that they are trying to target Europe, let alone that they could do so if they tried.”
In a separate interview with Sky News, Reed said US President Donald Trump spoke for himself when he threatened to “destroy” Iran’s power plants if Tehran did not fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours.
“The US president is perfectly capable of speaking for himself and defending what he says,” Reed said when asked to describe Britain’s stance on Trump’s deadline.
“We will not be dragged into war, but we will protect our own interests in the region.
“We will work with our allies to deescalate the situation.”
