England will soon be covered in snow due to freezing temperatures of -7 degrees in Scotland. The snow wall is predicted to cover 22 counties in England and Scotland; Snowfall is even predicted in Cornwall and Sussex.
After a few mild weeks, the weather is starting to cool down noticeably with low pressure systems coming in from the Atlantic. Temperatures that have been above seasonal norms will soon begin to decline, dropping below freezing in just a few days. WXCHARTS weather maps are turning white and blue, showing that not only will temperatures drop below zero, but it will also snow.
The winter magic will begin in less than a week on November 19th at 12pm. Weather maps predict the North East will see the brunt of the bad weather.
Major cities in this region, including Newcastle and Sunderland, could experience snowfall of up to 3mm per hour. Newcastle could even see snow depths reach 5cm as the city prepares for the snowpack.
The entire Scottish Highlands are covered in a blanket of snow, with an estimated snowfall of 0.5 mm per hour. A dusting of snow was also visible in parts of Yorkshire and the Humber.
The snow will spread as far south as Devon, with 1mm of snowfall per hour expected in the country.
East and west Sussex are also forecast to be covered in snow, with an estimated 0.5mm of snow covered.
Icy temperatures look set to grip the UK for an extended period, moving quickly for up to two days from Friday 21 November.
Temperatures will drop to -7C in Perth, Kinross and Angus; Stirling, Argyll and Bute will shiver below -5C.
Meanwhile, the Scottish Highlands will see the mercury hover around -2C. Temperatures throughout Scotland will not rise above -1C.
The northwest and northwest will freeze below -5C. London and the east of England will also see sub-zero temperatures with -2C forecast.
Elsewhere, temperatures will drop to -2C in South Wales, while -1C is forecast in North Wales.
