Alleged extortion of ₹2.51 crore: Police officer placed under suspension

Kozhikode City Traffic (North) and Deputy Police Commissioner Ka Suresh Babu were suspended as part of the investigation on 15 February 2025 with the two other people at the Kollam Eastern police station against him.
The suspension order was reserved as a defendant under 316 (2) sections and was given by the Ministry of Home on 18 June 2025. His wife, Vice President Nusrath and his friend Balachandra, were two other suspects who were reserved as the second and third defendant in the case.
The complaint opened by Kollam local and businessman Abdul Salam, with the cooperative wing wing of Mr. Babu in the Thrissur region, was working as Deputy Police Director, with the support of the second and third defendants, his properties claimed that their property provided 2.51 crore to stop the large bank rescue action worth 52 Crore.
In the petition, the police officer claimed that the amount reduced within six months to save the 52-Crore recovery measures initiated by a private bank in Thrissur after many failed Crore Overdraft repayments claimed that the amount was transferred to the second defendant’s account. However, the complainant violated the word and refused to return the fund.
The suspension order was published on the basis of a report from the State Police Chief to the State Department of the State Chief with an observation that the incident had pampered the image of the police department. Even while encountering criminal charges, the continuation of the service in another region was found irregular in the preliminary investigation report. Sources, a special internal investigation team will be established to control all the allegations against the senior police officer and to advance with more departments if necessary.
