UK weather maps show snow battering England and Scotland with brutal – | Weather | News

The latest weather maps show snow falling across the UK during a -7C freeze following mild weather.

Maps on WXCharts.com show the blizzard that hit the country on March 26. Scotland is expected to be the worst-hit area, with up to 11cm of snow falling in the north of the country.

The north west of England and Wales will also be affected by the freezing blizzard, but will likely see less snow than Scotland, with maps showing up to 4cm of snow in these areas.

Temperatures will drop to near zero in much of the UK, while in Scotland it could drop to 7 degrees below zero.

These cold weather forecasts follow a period of mild weather in the UK, with temperatures also reaching 22°C, with even warmer conditions dominated by high pressure expected tomorrow (Thursday, March 19).

Parts of the UK were warmer than Spain and Greece this week, with Wednesday described as the hottest day of the week. Areas around the Moray coast saw sunshine and temperatures reached 15-16°C. However, much of Scotland and Northern Ireland were cloudy with rain.

The Met Office’s long-range forecast covering March 26 said the weather would be “variable” and “unstable conditions” would prevail in many parts of the country.

Here is the full forecast: “Variable and at times unstable conditions for many parts of the UK at the start of this period as low pressure areas and associated frontal zones move close to or over the UK.

“These will likely be most active in the north and slightly weaker in the south near the high pressure ridge extending northeast from the subtropical Atlantic.

“There is also the potential for a period of strong windy weather in the first part of this period. By the end of the month, high pressure may become more dominant once again, with plenty of dry air, although some fog and frost may occur overnight.”
