UK weather maps show 38C Spanish heatwave on way – 54 hottest places | Weather | News
The UK is set to enjoy a heatwave that will see a scorching 38C in Spain, according to the latest weather maps. WXCharts, the UK-based forecast service owned by MetDesk, predicts that a scorching weather front will take over much of Europe this month, with hot temperatures reaching as far north as Scotland, while southern Europe will be quite hot. WXCharts’ latest weather maps show a heatwave bringing temperatures of 38 degrees to southern parts of Spain, while temperatures in the UK will reach around 24 degrees in the UK, thanks to a warm front spreading north from Iberia.
According to the latest available maps, high temperatures will reach Europe on Wednesday 20 May and peak on Friday 22 May. The hottest parts of the UK will be in England, but maps also show extremely high temperatures in Scotland and Wales next week. Temperatures will climb into the upper 30s in Spain, while conditions will also be quite warm in other British-popular European destinations such as Portugal, France and Italy.
This follows falling temperatures in the UK in recent days, heavy rainfall and even hailstones falling in some parts of the country.
But many are hoping for summer conditions to arrive based on the latest maps provided by WXCharts. They have temperatures between 22C and 24C in many parts of the UK, including northern England and Wales.

In the Met Office’s current forecast, conditions are expected to change from next Monday (May 18), but eventually higher pressure will build, leading to calmer weather with only occasional showers.
“Temperatures will start close to normal, but will tend to improve as the season progresses, and may become quite warm by the end of the season, especially in the south,” the forecast states. “Winds will generally be strong from the south-west during the first half of the period, then ease due to more settled conditions.”
As we enter June, weather conditions are expected to become more stable. The Met Office states: “Temperatures are likely to be close to or slightly above average overall, with warm weather possible at times.”
