Ukraine’s Zelenskyy issues statement after top politician assassinated | World | News
President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the arrest of a suspect in the fire of the leading Ukrainian politician Andriy Parubiy.
The Ukrainian National Police was warned against the reports of gunfire in Lviv’s Sykhivskyi region on Saturday, August 30th. Tragically, 54 -year -old ParubiBi died at the scene. The attacker, who was hidden as a delivery driver, fled the scene with a bike.
In a statement published in the early hours of Monday, Ukraine Interior Minister Igor Klymanko announced that the suspect was caught in the Western Khmelnytskyi region.
President Zelensky, “Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymanko and Ukraine Vasyl Maliuk Security Service President, reported the concern of a suspect in the murder of Andriy Parubiy. The necessary investigation actions continue.”

Authorities immediately did not give any symptoms as to whether the killing directly connected with Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Parubiy, who occupied the key position of the speaker at the Ukrainian Parliament, was an important figure who overthrew the pro -Russian government in 2014 and commanded thousands of protesters during Euroiden’s protests against the Kremlin intervention and political corruption.
Former President Petro Poroshenko announced that the Parubi -assassination, who served as a member of the National Security, Defense and Intelligence Parliament Committee in Telegram, represented a firing fired in the heart of Ukraine. ‘He said: “Andriy was a great man and a real friend. So they get revenge, that’s what they’re afraid of.”
A police statement published on social media revealed that “an unknown man made a few shots for a politician, as a result that Andriy Parubiy died in his place”, the authorities did not offer any comments about the potential motivation behind the assassination.
According to the current speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk, Parubi stood as “a consistent defender of the Ukrainian state”. Stefanchuk said: “I wish Andrii’s condolences to Andrii’s family and friends on behalf of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada.”
