Trump rips NY Times over Iran war coverage

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!
It’s worth taking a closer look at President Trump’s harsh criticism of The New York Times.
Reporter Neil MacFarquhar’s story isn’t much different from the 500 other stories you’ve read; emphasizes the same point:
What did the page-and-a-half so-called “deal” with Iran actually accomplish compared to Trump’s original goals for the war?
“Neither the war nor the agreement put an end to what US and Israeli officials saw as the main threats from Iran. Although the country’s nuclear program was badly damaged, it was not eliminated; its fate depended on future negotiations.”

“I think it’s better that this goes to American farmers rather than the Iranian terrorist regime,” said Marc Thiessen, a conservative Fox News correspondent who has a personal relationship with Trump but has broken ties with him over the issue.
Republican senators are saying this loudly.
They are especially angry that Trump plans to freeze $300 billion worth of assets in Iran, as well as waives oil sanctions against Iranians for 60 days, allowing them to earn nearly $10 billion by selling oil on the open market.
Meanwhile, J.D. Vance claims there has been progress in nuclear discussions, which Iran flatly denies; a foreign ministry spokesman said the theocratic dictatorship had “made no new commitment” on nuclear inspections.
What this highlights is that for all the hatred expressed towards the Times, he actually wants its approval.
The article he read while growing up in Queens and building towers in Manhattan.
The president opposed the proposal, threatening to destroy Iran once again if the country misbehaved Times “What Changed After Almost Four Months of War? Analysts Aren’t Saying Much.” Not Much?
“Their Army is DONE, their Navy is DONE, their Air Force is DONE, their Launch Pads, Missiles, Drones and Manufacturing are almost DONE, the top two groups of Leaders are DONE, their Inflation is at 250%, their Economy is DONE, their Soldiers are not paid, the Strait of Hormuz is OPEN, OIL is Gushing, and the US Stock Market and Jobs are at a record HIGH.
That’s what’s changed, you corrupt and unethical cowards and MORE!!”
An hour and a half later, Trump published that the newspaper used “FAKE AND IMPLICATED” FACTS” about the war, calling it “TRAISER.”
Treason, of course, is a capital crime with a maximum penalty of death.
Trump said he would add this complaint to his lawsuit against the “Criminals” who run the Times.

I think this is where I say the New York Times is not run by criminals. You may strongly disagree with the content of the story, this is clearly a liberal newspaper and the editorial page says he lost the war but they are not crooks.
I couldn’t find any public commentary from The Times. But last fall, when Trump reopened a $15 billion lawsuit against the newspaper, a spokesman said: “This is merely an attempt to stifle independent reporting and garner public relations attention, but the New York Times will not be deterred by intimidation tactics.”
At the same time, the Trump Justice Department has withdrawn, at least for now, subpoenas that would have forced Wall Street Journal and Washington Post reporters to testify before a grand jury in Virginia.
This happened after news organizations challenged them on sealed files.
A Post spokesman called it “a clear violation of constitutionally guaranteed press freedoms” and “another sign that the government is trying to force journalists to become instruments of its investigations.”
On the moss front, Trump said yesterday that he would sue ABC over its coverage of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, which fizzled and caused the death of several ducks.
Now he’s accusing it of vandalism. The President claims that ABC “spent more than $100 Million on the Reflecting Pool of their close ‘friends’ Democrats Obama and Biden and never reported that it worked.”

Doesn’t seem like a lawsuit to me.
Regardless, the Obama administration spent about $35 million on the pool, and the work was completed in 2012.
ABC anchor and reporter Jonathan Karl aired a segment on the Reflecting Pool and removed a slice of peeling paint to show the deterioration.
So will he be tried now? This seems to have crossed the line.
“We didn’t rob him, he was floating there,” Karl said on “Good Morning America.”
The work was done by a no-bid contractor for $15 million, nearly nine times the original estimate.
However, Trump says, “I like the money to be given to the US Treasury.” In 2024, ABC paid $16 million to settle a defamation lawsuit that used the word “rape.”
Trump’s frequent changes of position, which can change over days or even hours, make him difficult to cover up.
Of course, he changes his stance without any shame. Of course, the US-Israeli attack on Iran was extremely successful.
But it’s not radical to report that things are getting uncertain because Trump is threatening to bomb again – which I don’t think will happen.
Sometimes Trump’s rhetoric is just for show. After Trump put Jon Karl under the press for one of his questions, he called him over and quietly said, “We’re good.”
Meanwhile, the book “Regime Change” published yesterday by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, both New York Times reporters, has sparked some criticism in the press.
Days before their scheduled interview, Trump called Haberman a “third-rate reporter.” He described it as a “hip check”, which meant he wanted to put down a pen.
But when he sat down with the pair, he was “in a cheerful mood” and began talking to them about the trees he wanted to order, the book states. “I know how to buy good trees, Maples.”
“And then the planned ballroom. Also an anecdote about golfer Gary Player.
“We had questions to ask him,” Haberman says, and he mostly answered them. “But we didn’t want the interview to turn into an ‘open mic night’ where he would preach at length.”

The hour-long session went well until it ended with the chairman scolding Haberman.
“I’m tired of winning, winning, winning and getting worse, to the press. It’s time to tell the truth.”
“Routinely,” Haberman said on the “Daily Show,” the only person who really aggressively challenges her — and not in a rude or unprofessional way — is CNN host Kaitlan Collins, who also covers the White House.

“And it takes a lot of s— and it has a completely flat face. But it has no support.”
This feels like a not-so-subtle invitation to other White House correspondents to defend themselves, and arguments always help sell books.
