Unable to implement CAA, BJP is creating national register of citizens through SIR: Thirumavalavan

Thol, founder of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi and Chidambaram MP. Thirumavalavan on Monday said that despite Opposition parties opposing the Election Commission of India’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls, there is no option but to join it.
“There is no need for a SIR across India, especially in Tamil Nadu. They (BJP government) cannot directly implement the Citizenship Amendment Act due to spontaneous protests five years ago. Now instead of implementing it openly, they are using ECI to implement SIR to create a national register of citizens,” he alleged. “At least 10-15 percent of the people may not register as voters,” he feared.
At a meeting held to protest SIR in Chennai, the VCK leader said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union House Amit Shah’s agenda was Dr. He claimed that it was to destroy Ambedkar’s dream. Even if the protest cannot stop the SIR, their agenda may be exposed.
“Only if we understand Ambedkar’s dream, we can also understand the RSS’s dream. Dr. Ambedkar wanted to eliminate differences based on caste, religion and gender in India. He wanted social justice, education, livelihood and everyone’s share of power. To achieve this, inequalities created in the name of caste and religion had to be eliminated. This was his dream… he wanted to create this new India. And for this he created a weapon called the Indian Constitution. He wanted to speak, protest, debate, form political parties, form associations and give us power and “The RSS and Sangh Parivar groups do not like the right to share in democracy,” he claimed.
According to Mr. Thirumavalavan, the BJP cannot enter Tamil Nadu because of the DMK, VCK and the Communists. “Across India, they are using Dalit communities to find a foothold in every state. They are using Dalit leaders and organizations to take root. Scheduled castes across India have come together on a single platform, which was Dr. Ambedkar’s achievement. But RSS and BJP have engineered a division among SC communities by focusing on specific caste identities. They are doing the same in Tamil Nadu.”
The VCK leader said Sangh Parivar has penetrated Nadar, Arundhadhiyar, Devendrakula Vellalar, Kongu Vellalar Gounder communities. But no matter how hard they try, they cannot do the same in the Adi Dravidar and Vanniyar communities because of VCK and Pattali Makkal Katchi. “Even they (PMK) are flirting with the BJP and are in alliance with them. But VCK is a big hurdle for the BJP,” he said.
