Disgust as famous Gibraltar pool shut down after ‘being found full of poo’ | World | News

After human waste in many parts of the facility, the Europa pool in Gibraltar was closed. The event, which was defined as Vandalism action, was discovered on the morning of 4 August.

The pool manager was opened to perform usual routine controls and allow cleaning personnel to access. However, after entering the conflicts, it was greeted with a scene that the government defined as “terrible” – outer stool -covered walls. There was no physical damage in the facility and immediately contacted the royal Gibraltar police.

More research found stools in pool water, on the edge and other parts of the complex. According to public health guidance, standard protocols were followed immediately.

The pool required three full filtration cycles and a comprehensive disinfection process before the public was reopened and only when the environmental agency was allowed.

Europa Pool has previously experienced a similar vandalism, and as a result of the incident, the government is considering installing CCTV cameras in the Europa pool and other entertainment areas to ensure further control and monitoring of community areas.

According to Gibraltari government, “These meaningless actions not only interrupt access to an important public facility at a summer height, but also bring an unnecessary burden on GSLA (Gibraltar Sports and Lesiure Authority) personnel who work clean, safe and very much for everyone to meet our public resources and facilities.

The Gibraltary ruler strongly condemns the “embarrassing behavior”.

“Meaningless destruction actions have no place in our society. We all have a role to play in protecting the community areas that we value, and therefore we encourage everyone who has knowledge about this event.”

The Public Pool was reopened after more than one water filtration cycle, technical controls and security checks on August 5th. GLSA performed a comprehensive cleaning process to ensure that the pool is optimal and safe for public use.

The authority thanked the public for patience and understanding during the closure of the facility.
